ANNA MAE HAVEN, 74 ROCKFORD - Anna Mae Haven, 74, of Rockford passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011. Born April 24, 1937, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Lewis and Bertha (Rush) Clancy. She was a homemaker who loved her grandchildren, bingo, playing cards and word searches. She had a passion for people and loved helping people in general. Survived by sons, Lew (Doris) Haven of Machesney Park and Kevin Haven of Rockford; daughters, Stacie (Mike) Ruffcorn of Rockford and Lori (Bryan) Olson of Loves Park; grandchildren, Lewis C. (Jamie), Brandon, Christopher, Michael (Carissa), Sarah, Matthew, Morgan, Marissa and Macy; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Michael III, and one on the way; and two nephews. Born: Sept. 29, 1920; in Milwaukee, Wis., Died: April 30, 2011, Arthur William Wendland passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011., He was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Alfred and Helen Wendland. Arthur was united in marriage to Florence Radke on Oct. 11, 1941, in Milwaukee., Arthur moved from West Allis, Wis., to Batavia in 1940 with the Furnas Electric Company. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1944 to July 1946. At the time of his discharge he held the rank of Staff Sergeant, Infantry, assigned to the Transportation Corps at Fort Ord, Calif., He returned to Batavia and the Furnas Electric Company and retired after 43 years at the age of 62. During the following 20 years, Art and Florence enjoyed many vacations in northern Wisconsin. Art was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 504 in Batavia. He was also a member and past president of the Aurora Illinois Ostomy Support Group and a member and past president of the Furnas Quarter Century Club., He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn (Ken) Grossinger of Lockport; two sons, Keith of Batavia and Kenneth (Mary) of Tampico, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren., He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald; his loving wife of 62 years, Florence, who died in 2004; and a grandson, Carl Ensign., Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave., Batavia., Honoring the request of Arthur, funeral service will be private at River Hills Memorial Park Cemetery., Please omit flowers. She was surrounded by her loved ones., She was born Sept. 21, 1933, in Bushnell, the daughter of George and Nellie (Riggins) Millard. She married Carl Mack Jones on Feb. 9, 1962, in Bushnell. Caroline will be remembered for her great cooking, as a seamstress and being an avid gardener. Hospital to William and Evelyn (Curry) Zinnecker of Rockton. Cay graduated from Brother Dutton School in Beloit, Hononegah High School in Rockton and, in Beloit. Member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Cay was employed by Douglas Aircraft, Escondido, Calif., and Ingersoll Milling Machine Co., Rockford, where she was a secretary to Robert M. Gaylord for 32 years. After his death, she joined Blunt, Ellis and Loewi as a stock- broker, retiring in 1970. She served as a member of the board of directors of North Suburban Library and treasurer of St. Anne's Society. She was an avid golfer and a previous member of Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club in Rockford and the Beloit Country Club in Beloit. Survived by brother, Emmett Joseph (Dedie) Zinnecker of Rockton; sister-in-law, Millie Zinnecker; nephews, Robert M. Zinnecker of Loves Park and Emmett J. She was born on Feb. 4, 1922, in Hinckley, the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth (Walters) Daum., Dorothy was united in marriage on June 1, 1946, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DeKalb, Ill., to Mr. Warren Jacob Faxon, and they spent the next 49 happy years together until his passing on Nov. 18, 1995. She was employed for many years as a registered nurse. Mrs. Faxon is a member of the Hinckley American Legion Woman's Auxiliary. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends., She is survived by her sons, Richard (Helen) Faxon of San Diego, Calif., and Ralph (Karen) Faxon of Hinckley; her grandchildren, Anthony (Jen) Faxon, Alexandra League, Gary Winkler and Julie Tejada; and her great-grandchildren., She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Elizabeth Daum; her husband, Warren; her son, Robert Faxon in 1972; and her brother, Anthony Daum., A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 340 W. Donald served as Republican Precinct Committeeman for 40 years and a Hickory Point Township Trustee for 20 years. He was a member of the Warrensburg United Methodist Church, where he served as a board member and sang in the choir. Donald was a, veteran and enjoyed woodworking. EDITH EWING DALL ROSCOE - Edith Ewing Dall was born March 30, 1912, in Leadmine, Wis., and died Friday, April 29, 2011, in her home at NorthPoint Terrace, Roscoe. Edith graduated from Benton High School in 1930 and Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis., in 1934. That year she began many years of learning with students, retiring in 1986. She taught at Benton, Leadmine and Beaver Dam in Wisconsin and in Illinois at Caledonia and Rockford's Rock River, Lincoln, Beyer, Eisenhower, Keith and Pleasant Valley Schools. She did graduate studies at Rockford College and Northern Illinois University. Edith worked in the accounting department of Woodward's during World War II. She married Charles Dall on Nov. 15, 1941, in Mechanicsville, Iowa. They made their first home in Rockford and in 1955 purchased 80 acres in rural Caledonia where she resided until moving to North Pointe Terrace at age 95. She was a world traveler who enjoyed sharing her experiences with others. Member of First Baptist Church of Clinton, Wis., serving the church and Sunday School in many capacities but is best remembered for her many years as church treasurer. She was an active member of the Baptist Women, Belvidere Woman's Club, Caledonia Unit of H.C.E., Boone County Retired Teachers, and life member of Illinois Teachers Association, Boone County Historical Society, and Clinton Historical Society. She was interested in history, antiques, genealogy and family relationships. Survived by children, Mark Dall of Woodstock and Mary (Stanley) Showers of Roscoe; grandchildren, Brett (Meredith Hughes), Bryan (Mandy) and Meredith Becker, Malissa (Clay) Paulson, Michelle (Scott) Anderson and Aaron (Christina) Dall; great- grandchildren, Brent (Michelle), Bryce, Brittany, Bailey, Brandon and Blake Becker, Lindsee Dall, Brock West, Bailey Ann and Logan Basham, Samantha and Zachary Dall; great-great-granddaughters, Blaire and Layla; great-great-grandson, Blaine; and cousins and friends around the world. After the death of his father, Aubrey became the president of Pryor Trucking Inc. until the year 2000., Paul Harris Fellow. He was a past president of the Jaycees and organized many activities., Aubrey was a founding member of the Joint Industrial Development Commission, which later merged with the Great River Development Foundation to become the Great River Economic Development Foundation (GREDF). He was also a past president of the Chamber of Commerce and was involved in the opening of Quinsippi Island. He married Helen McElwain on Nov. 24 1945, in rural Gilson., Surviving are three sons, Steven L. Clark of Northbrook, James A. Clark of Northbrook, and Neil K. (Karen) Clark of Atlanta; one sister, Dorothy Coffman of Sacramento, Calif.; and three grandchildren., He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Paul; and sister, Pauline., He was raised and educated in Clinton, attending Clinton High School. He also attended Illinois State University where he earned his master's degree in education., He taught at Lewistown High School from 1947 to 1954 then at New Trier High School in Winnetka from 1954 to 1984 where he became Dean in 1980 until he retired in 1984., He also served in the United States Army during, serving from 1942 to 1945. He received his basic training in Georgia, and served in North Africa and Italy. He was a technical sergeant in an anti-tank company, 135th Infantry and received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one silver battle star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, one service stripe and five overseas service bars., He was a member of Knoxville Kiwanis Club and served as lieutenant governor from 1991 to 1992., He spearheaded the new classroom addition at Mable Woosley Elementary School., He was a member of Knoxville United Methodist Church serving as lay leader, staff leader and Sunday school teacher., Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Knoxville United Methodist Church, the Rev. PARKER, Colo. – Jason Ritter, 33, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011, at home in Parker, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous and inspiring nine-month battle with cancer., He was born July 1, 1977, in Woodstock, to Rex and Reenie Ritter., He was a graduate of Harvard High School and McHenry County College. He received his Bachelor of Arts in geography and secondary education from Western Illinois University (WIU), graduating summa cum laude. He obtained a master's degree in political science-international studies from WIU, as well. He was named the top geography student in Illinois. He was a recipient of McHenry County College's President's Talent Scholarship, Western Illinois University Geography Scholarship, and the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation's scholarship. He was presented with a rare original print of the famous Iwo Jima flag-raising photograph, personally signed and presented by photographer Joe Rosenthal at the Marine Corps Ball. He was the top Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation's award recipient. He also obtained post-graduate certifications in geography education and A.P. human geography from the University of Northern Colorado., At Western Illinois, he served as the assistant director of student housing, supervising 21 resident assistants and forming lasting and valued friendships with many students., He inspired and mentored hundreds of youths during his successful teaching career, which he loved dearly. He taught social studies at Eaglecrest High School in Centennial, Colo., Falcon Creek Middle School in Aurora, Colo., and Columbia Middle School in Aurora, Colo. In 2007 he was on the "core" team opening the new Legend High School in Parker. At Legend he taught A.P. human geography, world geography, ancient civilizations and U.S. history. He served as the Social Studies department chairman and was the adviser for student government. He enjoyed coaching the boys' J.V. basketball team. He was the 2010-11 Legend High School Apple Award representative, and was named the 2010 Outstanding Faculty Member of Legend High School. He was very proud of the many scholastic achievements of his students, and their affection, respect and admiration for him was obvious., He was an excellent basketball player and inherited his love of outdoor sports from his father, Rex. His hobbies included basketball, hiking and camping, and video games., He was a man of strong Christian values, belonging to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed speaking of his faith and participated in a Christian basketball ministry team visiting prisons throughout the West. His halftime testaments were well-received by the most hardened offenders., He met the love of his life, Audra Graham, on a blind date arranged by friends, and they were married July 31, 2005. They made their home in Parker and were blessed with a son, Lincoln Graham Ritter, on Jan. 8, 2010. The Ritter family enjoyed trips in the Colorado mountains and around the United States, from Hawaii to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, as well as the beaches of Lake McConaughy in Nebraska with Audra's parents, Larry and Kathy Graham of Sterling., After his diagnosis of signet ring cell colon cancer in June 2010, he fought a determined battle against the disease and enjoyed sharing his inspiring story with others. He had a wonderful support group in Phoenix were he made many friends over the years. He loved to pan for gold out west and travel to Laughlin to gamble a little bit. He also loved his "roundup" trips. He will be greatly missed by the Phoenix group of friends, as well as family here back home in the Chicago area. He was nicknamed "Chicago John". She was the third child and she was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, James Walker, one sister, Earlean Manley, and three children Berry Turpin, "Fast" Eddie Williams, and Virginia Buck. Her early days was spent in Durhamville, TN. Where she attended Elam Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. After completing her education she moved to Chicago, IL. She met and married John Jarvis. He preceded her in death. Josie worked for G.E. Electric for 20 years in Chicago. Josie moved to Decatur, IL in 1971 where she united with Northside Baptist Church. She was employed at Lakeshore Manor as a caregiver until it closed. She then relocated to Ripley, TN. In December of 2005 she returned to Decatur and united with the Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served until her health failed. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Terry Buck and wife Gail of Ripley, TN; Harry Turpin and special daughter-in-law, Velettla; Rev. Larry Turpin Sr. and Very, Very special daughter-in-law Magnolia (Nodie) Turpin; and a very special nephew Michael Walker all of Decatur; two sisters, Mary Brown and husband Josephus and Gloria Miller; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to staff at Wood Street Dialysis, SIU Medical Center, and ICU West at DMH for their care. She was born May 24, 1937, in Chicago, a daughter of Elmer N. and Margaret Bowles Rogers. She married Joseph Patrick Winkelmann on Nov. 8, 1958, in Northbrook. He survives., Mrs. Winkelmann was a park ranger working for the National Park Service as an interpretive specialist and EEO officer at the Abraham Lincoln Home in Springfield, Ill. She later worked at the Gov. John Wood Mansion as executive director of the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County for seven years. She was also an art teacher and Girl Scout leader., Judith greatly enjoyed history, interior decorating, gardening, reading and her pets., She was a member of the Catfish Club, PEO Chapter FH and the Antique Club. Judith was also a member of the Bicentennial Commission for the Lincoln-Douglas Debates. She also received a commendation from the Library of Congress for a course she created., In addition to her husband, Judith is survived by three daughters, Amy Jo Wheatman and her husband, Dean, of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Alisa Elkins and her husband, Shawn, of Quincy, and Meg Moore and her husband, Eddie, of Dacula, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Courtney Schweers and her husband, Matt, Greg Wheatman, Brittany Elkins, Davis Elkins, Austin Brown, Hannah Moore and Emma Moore; three great-grandchildren, Hudson Parker, Lily Schweers and Isla Schweers; one brother, Thomas Rogers and his wife, Carol; and numerous nephews and other relatives., Judith was preceded in death by her parents., SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Quincy University Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kathryn E. "Kay" Cookson

Born Nov. 8, 1920, in Eveleth, Minn., Kay was a daughter of Martin and Kathryn Weir Waselski. She married James "Jim" Cookson on Nov. 21, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. He died May 3, 1999., Kay was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and was a 1938 graduate of Duluth (Minn.) High School. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and going to the casino. Kay was very active in Adams County Democratic politics. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their school and sports activities., Kay had helped her husband, Jim, as a secretary and concessionaire when he was playing and managing for various minor league baseball teams. MARILYN J. (CARLSON) TREADMAN FRIDH ROCKFORD - Marilyn J. Carlson Treadman Fridh passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011, in her home, the place she loved best. Born Jan. 14, 1925, in Rockford to Ernest and Bertha Carlson, she was the youngest of five children. Her brother, Herbert "Hub" was her best friend. She learned the beauty of watching things grow and of all nature in her father's garden. She loved her pet companions dearly. Marilyn had an artistic eye and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She was a proud mother and home maker. Marilyn was a loving guide to her children; daughter, Pamela (Mike) Renstrom; son, Mark (Jaci) Fridh; grandchildren, Michael Renstrom, Marisa (Logan) Hautamaki, Brienne (Ryan) Kennedy and Heather Ruiz; great- grandchildren, Tyler and Annika Ruiz; her foster grandkids; and nieces and nephews. Her home was her world and all of her children were the stars in her sky. In her quiet way she taught the true value of family everyday of her life. Spittel on Jan. 24, 1948, in the Baltimore Cathedral in Baltimore., After she mothered one boy, Craig, and two girls, Barbara and Judith, she resumed nursing in obstetrics and maternity at Georgetown University Hospital and general nursing at National Institute of Health, both in Washington, D.C., through 1956. While on duty in Georgetown Hospital Maternity, one of her patients was Jackie Kennedy with her son, Jon Jon., After the birth of her second son, Timothy, she continued her maternity nursing at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md. During her tenure at Holy Cross, George Wallace, governor of Alabama, while on the presidential campaign trail in Laurel, Md., was shot and received treatment at Holy Cross. After his treatment, he issued commendations to all of the nursing personnel, including Mary Jane, by appointing them Honorary Lieutenant Colonel Aide-de-Camp in the Alabama State Militia for the 12th day of July 1972., After relocating to the Woodstock area in 1973, she continued her nursing career in the maternity section at Woodstock Memorial Hospital. In 1974, she switched her nursing focus to geriatrics at Crystal Pines Nursing Home in Crystal Lake. She retired in December 1974., After retirement, she joined her husband in traveling the North American Continent in their Holiday Rambler recreational vehicle., She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James; four children, J. Craig Spittel of Seattle, Barbara A. Spittel of Crystal Lake, Judith M. Smith of Gaithersburg, Md., and Timothy O. Spittel of Crystal Lake; two grandchildren, Teresa and Chad; and three great-grandchildren, Piper, Hunter and Archer in Gaithersburg., She was preceded in death by her parents., The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Steis, 86, Monmouth, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2011, at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg., Parker was born Feb. 3, 1925, in Effingham, the son of Leonard A. and Maurece Parker Steis. He was raised in Effingham, where he attended local schools and graduated high school. He then attended Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., and then graduated from St. Louis College of Mortuary Science. He was married to Joan Fuller on April 10, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo., "Park" began work as an apprentice, at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. He then was licensed as a funeral director in Illinois and continued work for several years. He then began employment as a salesman for EBC, Embalming Burial Case, in Burlington, Iowa. He had been in sales as a representative for EBC, Quincy Casket Company, Lincoln Casket Company, and Artco Casket Company spanning a period from 1950 to his retirement in 1999., Parker has been a life long Presbyterian and was a member of the former Grace Presbyterian Church and Faith United Presbyterian Church serving as elder, trustee and deacon. He also was a former moderator of Monmouth Presbytery and served as chairman of Ministerial Relations for Great Rivers Presbytery. Parker also was a member and Paul Harris Fellow in Monmouth, , serving as district governor for District 6460 in 1982-83. He also served as a delegate to the Legislative Continental Council in Chicago and also traveled to Singapore as delegate for District 6460. Parker was active in the Warren County Red Cross and had served locally as it's chairman and was active in the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary., Parker is survived by his wife, Joan of Monmouth; and two daughters, Catherine Abernathy of Monmouth and Jane (John) Walters of Hanover Park. He has two grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jon) Gear and Nathan Walters; and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Emily Gear. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mary Ann., Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. Visitation is planned by his family on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. Always a bounce in her step, she was an avid walker, frequent volunteer worker and lover of both nature and people. She was a life-long learner who enjoyed traveling, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Born Nov. 4, 1931, the son of Arlington J. and Mildred (Zellers) Falk. Richard was a 1949 graduate of Byron High School, and owner/operator of the Snow White Bakery in downtown Byron for many years. Survived by wife, Barbara (Doyle); brother, Earl (Ruth); and sons, Robert (Linda), all of Byron, and the Rev. Danny (Barbara) of Rogers, Ark.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, in Byron Cemetery, 405 E. Fifth St., with the Rev. Randy Snider officiating. In case of rain, the service will be moved to First Baptist Church of Byron, 205 N. Peru St. Lunch will be provided at the church after the service. He married Rhonda L. Blackburn on Oct. 7, 1974, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on Sept. 18, 2007., He is survived by three children, Corinne (and Sam Holman) Nance of Abingdon, Steven (and Yolanda Nanez) Nance of Monmouth, and Jace (and Corrine Williams) Nance of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Marques, Jada, and Rylan, and one on the way; a sister, Debra (and Thomas) Nance-Calvert of Park Forest; a brother-in-law, Willie Esters of Joliet; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he treated as family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Shirley Nance-Esters., Roger lived in Denver, Colo., for 21 years, where he worked for Ralston-Purina. He and his family moved to Galesburg in 1995 and he worked for NAEIR as a fork truck operator for over 10 years. He was born on March 21, 1926, in Bowen to Lewis and Ollie Aden Moormann. He married Coralie A. McHone on July 25, 1948, in Bowen. She died Nov. 3, 2002., Ronald was a lifelong farmer in the Bowen area and also had been employed at Alexander Lumber Co. in Bowen following his retirement from farming in 1989., He was a graduate of Bowen High School, had served as mayor of Bowen and was a Hancock County ASCS committee member. Tess was born March 13, 1924, the daughter of Grace and J. Lewis Frederick. She was a graceful and beautiful lady who loved and enjoyed her family above all things. Her poise and style were an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Tess was an accomplished artist and painter. Her legacy will live on in the paintings that adorn many people's walls. She loved to travel, and one of the incredible joys in her life was having been able to swim with the dolphins in Cancun, Mexico, at the ripe young age of 86. She was always game for an outing, ballgame, concert, shopping, lunch and any place warm. BISHOP HILL - Wayne A. Ericson, 75, Bishop Hill, died Monday, May 2, 2011, in the emergency room of Kewanee Hospital. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at Bishop Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Ann Champion will officiate. Burial will be in Bishop Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Galva chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wayne A. Ericson Memorial Fund., Wayne Ericson was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Kewanee, the son of Wiley and Pearl (Lindstrom) Ericson. He married Nancy Plummer and later married Dorothy Davis Maxwell on Aug. 28, 1983, in Bishop Hill. He was educated in Bishop Hill and Galva Schools and graduated from Galva High School in 1953. He farmed with his father, did custom work and shelled corn. He also operated a tiling business. He had served in the, National Guard. Wayne enjoyed model trains, snowmobiling, NASCAR, Fords and riding motorcycles., He was a member of the Old Settler's Association, Bishop Hill Heritage Association, Geneseo Moose Lodge No. 990, and Hagberg-Hamlin American Legion Post 45 in Galva. He served on the Bishop Hill Village Board for 45 years. Wayne also enjoyed attending the annual steam engine show in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He always assisted with the trolleys when he was there., Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, Chris Craig, Galva; a daughter, Carrie Lowderman, Macomb; two stepsons, Mark Maxwell and Charles Maxwell, both of Galva; a stepdaughter, Nancy Johns, Avon; and several grandchildren. Wilma Dixon

WILMA P. DIXON, 83 ROCKFORD - Wilma P. Dixon, 83, passed from this life into eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, after a long illness. On July 3, 1927, she was the first born to Albert Ray and Alma May (Engelbert) Pearce on a farm in Mound Valley, Kan., where she lived and worked with her family. She graduated from Labette County High School, Altamont, Kan., in 1945 and married Willis E. Dixon on June 2, 1946. In 1950 the couple moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where they attended Open Bible Institute. Wilma graduated in 1953 and Willis in 1954. In 1954 they accepted their first pastorate in Seneca, Neb. This was the beginning of their church pastoral ministry in Anselmo, Neb., in Howard and Sturgis, S.D., and in Dixon. As a couple, they were in active pastoral ministry for more than 25 years and have held credentials with Open Bible churches for more than 56 years. In 1970 she became the first female dispatcher for the city of Dixon and the Lee County Law Enforcement Center. After the dispatcher position, she was employed as the activities director at Lee County Nursing Home until 1979 when they moved to Rockford and she became the activities director for Fairhaven Christian Home where she worked until she retired in September 1994. In October 1994 through October 1995, she and Willis spent a year in Papua New Guinea as missionaries for Open Bible Missions. From 1996 through 2009 the couple spent their winters in Homestead, Fla., as staff of Camp Freedom campgrounds. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Willis; children, Norman (Linda) Dixon of Des Moines, Wymetta (Andrew) Crull of Machesney Park, Michelle (Jim) Frey and Mardelle (Robert) Slain, both of Dixon, and Marlis (Patrick) Rushing of Caledonia; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Myers of Oswego, Kan., and Edna Sourk of Lenexa, Kan. Predeceased by her parents, and brother, Delbert Pearce. Service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, in Open Bible Church, 8567 Town Hall Road, Belvidere, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service. Behm, 94, of Johnsburg, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at her home., She was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Palatine, to George A. and Elizabeth (Gloden) Weidner., She was raised in Buffalo Grove, where she lived until she married Martin. She attended beauty school at the Wilford Academy in Chicago and worked in Mount Prospect for four years before her marriage. She helped her husband farm until moving to Johnsburg. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Agatha Court No. 777. She lived life to its fullest and especially enjoyed spending time with her family., She is survived by her two children, Richard (Linda) Behm of Johnsburg and Mary (Duane) Schmitt of Johnsburg; 10 grandchildren, Brad, Kathie and Kristi Blasius, Deana Behm, Rachel (James) Gratz, Sarah Behm, Nicholas Behm, Todd, Adam and Kevin Schmitt; her daughter-in-law, Kathie Behm of McHenry; her son-in-law, Robert Blasius of Grayslake; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Olivia, Martina, Isabelle and Zachery; and her sister, Anne (the late Al) Dietz of Grayslake., She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Behm on Sept. 11, 2003; two children, Susan Blasius and Jack Behm; a great-granddaughter, Gabriella; her parents; her brothers, Wally (the late Mildred) Weidner, Clem (Josephine) Weidner, Al (Regina) Weidner, Raine (Agnes) Weidner, Anthony (Lucille) Weidner and Dick (Esther) Weidner; and her sisters, Isabelle (Charles) Wipper and Susan (Ray) Reighard., The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W.
