ANNA MAE BAARSTAD, 92 ROCKFORD - Anna Mae Baarstad, 92, of Rockford died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Wesley Willows Health Center. Born Aug. 20, 1918, in Rockford; the daughter of Lauren and Leah (Eley) Woodard. She married Harold P. Baarstad on Oct. 21, 1939, in Nashua, Iowa; he died in January 1997. Member of Beth Eden United Methodist Church. Anna Mae was the secretary at the former St. John United Methodist Church for 32 years, retiring in 1989. Survived by sisters, Lela Warner of Rockford and Ellen Byrum of Glendale, Ariz.; and sister-in-law, Doris Ruback. Predeceased also by sister, Leah Holland. Special thanks to the staff at Wesley Willows for their loving care, and to the many special friends who visited over the past year. "Gene" Moore, 87, passed away at 8:09 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011, in Herrin Hospital, with his loving sons at his side., Mr. Moore was the band director for Herrin Junior High School from 1967 until his retirement in 1980. He formerly taught at Mount Vernon High School from 1959 to 1965 and at Harrisburg Junior High School from 1965 to 1967., He was of Christian faith, graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Bachelor's degree and was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II serving from 1943 to 1946., Ben was born July 20, 1923, in West Frankfort to Bert B. and Mabel Katherine (Nangle) Moore., Ben was united in marriage with Mary Juliaette Webb on April 11, 1947, in West Frankfort. She preceded him in death Dec. 24, 2003., Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn Wilham of Sequamish, Wash.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Russ Moore of Energy, and Mark and Linda Moore of Champaign; six grandchildren, Alesia Alanso and her husband, Gary of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Amileth LeeAnn Brooks and her husband, Chad of Cobden, Nicholas Morgan Moore and his friend, Scott Stephens of Chicago, Thomas Moore of Champaign, Adrienne Moore of Athens, Ga., and Mary Moore of Champaign; five great-grandchildren, Isaac John Brooks and Abram Xavier Brooks of Cobden, Morgan Alanso, Delaney Alanso and Sawyer Alanso of Manhattan Beach, Calif., He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter-in-law, Jane Ann Moore; and one brother, Bert Moore., A time of gathering for friends and relatives will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Private family graveside services will be at Webb Cemetery at Tunnel Hill, with the Rev. Ed Hoke officiating. betty may carlson ROANOKE, Va. - At 2:08 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, Betty May Carlson met her Savior face to face. Born May 24, 1919, in Rockford, Ill., she attended Highland Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High, and graduated from Rockford High School. She later earned her undergraduate degree from Grinnell College and was the first in the family to receive a masters degree - hers in physical education from Oregon State University. After a tenure in the Waves during the war years, she traveled extensively. On the invitation of a friend, she visited L'Abri Fellowship in Huemoz, Switzerland, in the Swiss Alps, where she met Dr. Francis and Edith Schaeffer. Through their influence, she became a believer and was thereafter dedicated to influencing others for Christ. Her syndicated column, "I Love People", appeared in the Rockford Moring Star in the 1960s. Betty was "Artist in Residence" at L'Abri Fellowship for 37 years. She wrote many books, including "The Gift of Music", on which she collaborated with Jane Stuart Smith, her companion in the faith. Retiring to live in Roanoke in 2000, her ministry continued to bless many. Survived by her brother, Edwin (Violet) Carlson; and sister-in-law, Jane Carlson of Rockford; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving parents, Edwin W. and Alice Carlson; brother, David A. Carlson; and sister, Alice Palmquist. A celebration of her life was held in Roanoke. He had a kind heart, amazing memory, beautiful smile, and wonderful sense of humor. Survivors include his father, Alan M. Kossman; mother Vicki (Terry) Dunne; daughter, Brianna Lynn; siblings Alan (Ann) Kossman, Kathy (Brian) Eichhorn, Kristen (Craig) Mateski, Mark Kossman, Mike (Jaime) Kossman, Melissa Dunne, and Miranda Dunne; and nieces and nephews Emily, Brian, and Abby Eichhorn; Evalyn, Sam, and Lillian Mateski; Connor and Colin Kossman; and Kyle Dunne; grandmother Isabelle Krauss, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. CLARA RUTH BRILES

Clara Ruth Briles, 91, of DeKalb, passed away Saturday, May 7, under the tender care of the DeKalb County Hospice at the DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, DeKalb., Born Nov. 9, 1919, in Riverside, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, Ruth was the daughter of Robert Pierce and Ida (Hightower) Wilson. She married Worthie Elwood Briles on June 6, 1941, in Austin, Texas, while the two of them were attending the, . Later that summer, Ruth and Elwood received their Bachelors of Arts degrees in zoology from UT. They then went to the, at Madison to begin work on their advanced degrees. However, those efforts were set aside so that Elwood could serve in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II., Following World War II and the births of their first two children (Susan and David), Ruth and Elwood returned to Madison where they received their advanced degrees in immunogenetics in 1948 (Ruth: M.S., Elwood: Ph.D.). The family then moved to College Station, Texas, where Elwood was a faculty member in the Poultry Science Department at Texas A&M and where their younger daughter Sara was born. After the family moved to DeKalb in 1957, Ruth worked with Elwood at the DeKalb Agricultural Association as a research associate in immunogenetics research from 1958-1968. From 1968-1970, Ruth was an Instructor in biological sciences at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb., From 1970-2000, Ruth again worked with Elwood, this time as a research associate for immunogenetics research in the Biology Department at NIU. On October 9, 2004, Elwood and Ruth were recognized for their contributions to avian genetics by the U.S. Department of Agriculture., Ruth was active in the American Association of University Women, volunteered at the Ellwood House and served for several years as the superintendent of the Sunday school at First Congregational Church in DeKalb., She is survived by her husband, Elwood; children, Susan Marie (Duane) Kniebes of Boulder, Colo., David Elwood (Marilyn Crain) Briles of Birmingham, Ala. and Sara (Richard Briles Moriarty) Briles of Madison, Wis.; grandchildren, Dustin Lincoln (Dana Churness) Briles Moriarty of Herbster, Wis., Rachel Florence (fiancé Duy Hoang) Briles of Austin, Texas and Travis Crain Briles of Boulder, Colo.; step-grandchildren, Linda (Kniebes) Kozak and Carrie (Steve) Swift (Kniebes) of Lisle, Ill. and Van Kniebes of Boulder; great-grandchildren, Wylder Lee and Olin Elwood Moriarty of Herbster; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews, including especially nephews, Jesse Rodman Wilson Jr. (Cathy) of Cold Springs, Nev., Hal (Claudia) Cochran of West Covina, Calif., Dale (Jacqueline) Cochran of San Clemente, Calif. and Roy (Thérèse) Krebs of Alexandria, Va., She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Robert Pierce Wilson II, Travis Hudson Wilson I, Ida Gertrude Krebs, Charlotte Josephine Cochran, Sarah Elizabeth Quinlan and Jesse Rodman Wilson Sr.; and her brothers-in-law, Connally Oran Briles, Van Gordon Briles and Jack David Briles., A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 5, in the Hearthside Room in the Visitors' Center of the Ellwood House, 509 W. They lived many years in Tipp City, Ohio, retiring to Venice, Fla., in 1977. William died June 19, 1980. Boonie then moved to Pecatonica in 1997 to be near family. Survivors include sister, Emily (John) Houser of Denver; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Carl Mitchell; and sister, Moneta Brecount. Sawicki-Portillo; son-in-law, Edward Portillo; grandson, Edward C. HAROLD EARL NASH JR. "Oh that I had wings like a dove for then would I fly away and be at rest" Psalms 55:6 ROCKFORD - Christianity does not exempt one from death; it only ensures triumph over death. There is no other entrance into our heavenly Father's house. A Christian's life came to an end, Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, when Brother Harold Earl Nash Jr. was called to his Father's house. Brother Harold Earl Nash Jr. was born June 30, 1945, the son of Harold Nash Sr. and Dorothy Kenerson in Chicago. Brother Nash accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was baptized. He grew up in Chicago and attended elementary and high school, graduating with honors. He attended Roosevelt University, majoring in political science. Being an avid reader, Brother Nash became involved in politics and served as a proponent for civic and social issues. Later in life he met the Bennetts and traveled north to Rockford. He became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and served faithfully until he was overcome with ill health. Brother Nash served in many capacities at the church and was well known in the community for his faithfulness. He was dependable and trustworthy, and possessed a wealth of knowledge of the Bible. Always optimistic and seeking to serve others in a Christian way, he devoted his life to God, his family, church and friends. In addition, he developed equally strong relationships with each new generation. Brother Nash worked as a packer at the United Parcel Service for a number of years. Brother Nash was also a member of the Black Health Care Initiative Coalition, served with the health unit ministry at church, Rockford Vicinity Baptist and District Association and Baptist Gen. State convention of Illinois. Later in life found pleasure in researching various topics on the computer, crossword puzzles and being an electronics hobbyist. Overall, Brother Nash loved life, never met a stranger, and was a friend to all mankind. He always had a warm smile and greeted others in love. He leaves to mourn his passing, his sister, Yvonne Wagner of Corona, Calif.; nephew, Marcus Nash (Alisa) of Chicago; and relatives, friends, and his church family. Brother Harold Nash Jr. is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorraine Nash; and numerous aunts and uncles. She was a graduate of SIUC earning a Bachelor of Science and Master's of Science. Her summative degree was a specialist in educational administration in 1997, earned from Eastern Illinois University. J'ke was involved in several aquatic programs in Southern Illinois; these included: Riverside Pool, Carbondale YMCA, Campus Lake, Pulliam Pool and Jackson Country Club. She taught hundreds of children to swim over a 30-year period. Her most recent employment was with Cobden District 17. She worked as a teacher, counselor and administrator at Cobden for more than a quarter of a century., Lung cancer allowed her to enter the house of the Lord earlier than anticipated., Left to cherish her memories and mourn her passing include her husband, Charles D. McCann of 40 years; her mother, Shirley Casper of Carbondale; children, Jamie and Jeff and granddaughter, Elizabeth, Howard of Washington, D.C., and Chad (Kelly and granddaughter, Jaycee) of Kevil, Ky. John served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He had a wonderful support group in Phoenix were he made many friends over the years. He loved to pan for gold out west and travel to Laughlin to gamble a little bit. He also loved his "roundup" trips. He will be greatly missed by the Phoenix group of friends, as well as family here back home in the Chicago area. He was nicknamed "Chicago John". Everyone knew him by that name. Memorial service to be held at a later date at his daughter's home in Homer Glen.

Age 66, died suddenly, beloved soul mate of Karen Curry, loving dad of Chris (Susan), Tim, Jason & Mackenna (Marcus) Holling, proud grandpa of Kayla, Crista, Hailey, Alex & Holli, great-grandpa of Ellie, dear son of Retha (the late Ted) Corbin & the late Harry Swinford, and kind brother of Pattie (Ron) Clifford. "Swinnie" as he was known to his friends, and associates, began his career in the commodities industry in 1971 as a phone man on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for Heinold Commodities, Inc. He became a Registered Representative for the firm in 1972, and later was promoted to Vice-President. After Heinold was sold, he worked for several other commodity brokerage firms, and was currently associated with Rosenthal Collins Group LLC. He maintained a huge and loyal following of customers for many years. In addition to his customer business and personal trading, he also was the head trader for managed accounts with Kottke Associates LLC, and was a partner with Rosetta Capital Management LLC. He developed a unique trading philosophy and style based on a sound knowledge of market fundamentals, coupled with an overview of technical analysis. He specialized in the hog and cattle markets, along with the grain markets. Several times during his long career, he correctly analyzed and predicted major market moves. He was highly respected by persons in the commodity industry throughout his career. His advice and counsel was sought many times on issues pertinent to the commodity industry. The whole commodities industry, mourns his death, and has lost a valuable asset. There was only one "Swinnie". Michael was a member of Curtisville Christian Church, and a longtime Purdue fan and supporter, a member of the John Purdue Club, and attended most home football and basketball games, all the Big Ten Tournaments. He also was an avid motor sports fan, USAC car owner, and collector of rare and unique cars. He was a life member of Austin Lodge #128 F & AM (Tipton, IN), Scottish Rite, Valley of Chicago, Medinah Shriners, AAONMS. A memorial celebration of Michael's life will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011, 3:30 PM at Strongbow Restaurant 2405 E. NANCY CAROLINE (BUZZELL) CUTHBERTSON, 78 PECATONICA - Nancy Caroline (Buzzell) Cuthbertson, 78, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Freeport Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Born April 8, 1933, in Chicago, the daughter of Merrill and Ruth (Catlin) Buzzell. Nancy graduated from West High School in 1951. She married Robert Cuthbertson on July 24, 1953, in Orange, Texas; he died March 27, 1999. Nancy worked for many years for the Pecatonica School District. She was a member of Pecatonica United Methodist Church. Nancy enjoyed reading and she loved her flowers, especially Gerber daisies. She spent many hours with her beloved dog, Ozzie. Nancy was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for her favorite teams, the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox. She was also a big fan of "American Idol." Nancy enjoyed having coffee with her friends in her coffee klatch. Every Wednesday at 9 p.m. she would have a three-way phone call with her two best friends. Nancy's grandchildren were the loves of her life. Survived by daughter, Debra Shultz of Rockford; sons, Steven Cuthbertson and Jeffrey (Cyndi) Cuthbertson, both of Pecatonica; grandchildren, Brent, Mark, Stephanie, Samantha, Anna, Kaylene, Brissa and Braelyn; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kayden; sisters, Merrillyn Cass, Patricia Black and Lenora Kelly; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friends, Marilyn and Stan McCrudden and Pat and Jack Corey. She was born August 13, 1936, on the Moody Ranch near Crawford, NE, the daughter of James Truman Moody and Caroline Catherine Wasserburger Moody. On November 30, 1957, she married Richard Daniel Neal in Crawford, NE. Survivors include her husband of fifty-three years, Rich Neal of Casey, IL; daughter, Rebecca Jo Smith and husband Asa of Flower Mound, TX; grandson, Riley Smith, granddaughter, Brittany Ferreira and husband Charles and granddaughter, Claire Williams ; sisters, Sharon Hudson of Emporia, KS and Barbara Richards of Northglenn, CO; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Robert Neal; twin sister, Bette Jo Wermers; sister, Jeanette Parsons and brother, James Gordon Moody. Upon completion, Norma moved to Denver, CO where she met and married her husband, Rich. Rich and Norma served twenty years in the US Air Force. Norma was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Casey, IL. She was over a fifty year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a retired office manager for State Farm Insurance in Texas and had previously worked for numerous insurance offices and banks. Norma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had many accomplishments in life and one of her contributions was authoring a book, "My Life On The Moody Ranch." Funeral Mass to celebrate Norma's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Father Mike Haag officiating. Pierce St., Elburn., Paul was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1952 to Anne and Roland Mahood. He graduated from Ithaca College in 1974 and shortly thereafter took his young family to the Midwest to pursue a career in sales., Paul was infrequently indoors. He spent many summer vacations fishing and canoeing in the peaceful waters of the Quetico Provincial Park. He was also a longtime member and previous board member of the St. Charles Sportsman's Club., Paul is remembered by many as a kind and generous soul who was always willing to lend an ear and offer a bit of sound advice. An avid reader and talented writer, he was constantly surrounded by a pile of books. At the time of his passing, he was working on two novels., Paul loved his family deeply and was fascinated by history and genealogy. RICHARD CLIVE "DICK" WATSON

Richard "Dick" Clive Watson, 96, of Genoa, Ill., passed away peacefully in his home May 25, 2011. He was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Genoa, to Clive and Mary "Mayme" (Teyler) Watson., Richard married Leona Lee June 12, 1936; they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2006. Dick and Lee were lifelong residents of the Genoa area. They worked closely together in business in Genoa for 42 years. They owned and operated an earth-moving and land-clearing business, Watson Furniture and Appliances and Watson Real Estate. They sold many houses and farms in the area, developed five subdivisions and built more than 120 homes before retiring in 1980., Richard was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa. He had a 40-year passion for flying, and owned and flew several airplanes. His retirement hobbies included woodworking, wood carving, traveling and spoiling his grandchildren. Richard was a long time member of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Genoa School Board, on the DeKalb County Planning Commission, active in the DeKalb County Republican Party, spent considerable time on the Chief Shabbona Council of Boy Scouts of America and volunteered at the Kishwaukee Heritage Museum in Genoa. Richard was a great salesman and he always enjoyed hearing and telling a good story., He is survived by two sons – Don (Kim) of Castle Rock, Colo., and his three children: Kelly (Jason) Hawkins and her daughters, Jenna and Kate, of Lantana, Texas, Brent (Angie) and son, Julian, of Austin, Texas, and Brian of Irving, Texas – and Bruce (Kathy) of Granite Shoals, Texas, and Bruce's four children: Matthew (Stephanie) of Plano, Texas, Mark of Austin, Texas, Kristina of New York and Stephanie, who is attending Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla., Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Leona; his stepfather, Edwin Krueger; and two brothers, Robert and Howard Watson., His family is very grateful and extends warm thanks to Jerzy (George) for his friendship and caretaking over the years, as well as Pastor Frick of Trinity Lutheran Church, and the nurses of DeKalb County Hospice., At Richard's specific request, the family will have a private graveside service at Hampshire Center Cemetery., In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Richard's name to Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 N. Raymond was born Oct. 24, 1944, in Kirksville, Mo., a son of Marion Willis and Martha Evelyn Kriegshauser Swann. He married Nancy Sharon "Sherri" Howerton on Jan. 16, 1965, in Edina, Mo. She survives., A 1962 graduate of Novelty High School in Novelty, Mo., Raymond served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966, during which time he was stationed in Iceland, Newfoundland and aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex. He was honorably discharged with the rank of petty officer third class, and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1966 to 1968., After his military service, Raymond worked at newspapers in Burlington, Iowa, and New Albany, Ind. In Quincy, he worked in the parts department at Steve Nosser Ford, and in sales, purchasing and marketing positions at Chanen's Auto Supply-IMI Corp. For the past 21 years, he worked at George Keller and Sons, where he became co-manager of operations and the wholesale lawn and garden manager., Raymond was a member of PASA. He was a past recipient of the Quincy Pistol and Rifle Club Indoor Pistol League Most Improved Award. He also enjoyed birdwatching, spending time outdoors and was well known for the meticulous care of his lawn. ROBERT H. KNOPE, 67 ROCKFORD - Robert H. Knope, 67, entered into eternal life with the Lord at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, with his loving family always by his side. Bob was born Aug. 7, 1943, in Green Bay, Wis., to Vera and Harold Knope. They moved to Loves Park early in his life. He graduated from Harlem High School in 1962. He was employed by Barker Rockford Co. from 1962 until his retirement, Oct. 1, 2010. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Bob met Charlotte in seventh grade. She became his wife on Oct. 17, 1964. They were blessed with two children, Brad and Steve. Brad and Denyse gave them three grandsons, Steve and Erica gave them two granddaughters. Among his interests were his home and family, softball, bowling, restoring antique cars, and trips to Disney World ("Our Happy Place") and had hoped to retire in Florida. Bob enjoyed life, enjoyed helping others, and always had a smile on his face. He fought his battle with cancer courageously, never giving up. His words were always "Whatever it takes." Bob and Char's song "To Know Him is to Love Him" says it all! Thank you to all of Bob's doctors, especially Dr. Hoskins and staff at OSF Cancer Care Center, and to all our friends who kept us in their prayers and for lending us their shoulder when we needed it. He leaves his wife of 46 years, Char, and their loving canine companion, Haley; son, Brad and grandsons, Kevin (Adrianne and Nevaeh), Dan and Chris; son, Steve (Erica) and granddaughters, Jennifer and Catlin; father, Harold Knope (Georgia); brother, Michael (Gail); sister, Judy (Kim); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Jim White. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; his work family; many car friends; work associates; and bowling buddies. Predeceased by mother, Vera Knope; grandparents; mother-in-law, Margaret Thurmond; father-in-law, Willard Thurmond; and most recently Denyse Knope. Robert L. EDDY Sr.

He was born April 17, 1958, in Fairbury, Ill., a son of Richard and Wilma Howser Eddy. He first married Toni Flowers Logsdon on July 14, 1983, in Quincy. He later married Emily Miller on July 16, 2000, in Quincy., Robert attended the Open Door Fellowship Church and served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing, camping and golfing. He was a graduate of Quincy Technical School and was a self-employed carpenter for many years., Survivors include four sons, Robert Eddy Jr. of West Point, Ill., and James Eddy, Jason Eddy and his wife, Bridget, and Ethan Eddy of Quincy; one daughter, Jessica Eddy of Quincy; and 12 grandchildren, Jesse O'Briant, Cora Eddy, Jayzen Bradshaw, Julien Eddy, Parker Eddy, Payton Eddy, Pierce Eddy, Ashlyn Eddy, Braylyn Eddy, Cadalyn Eddy, Damien Bradshaw and Heaven Bradshaw, all of Quincy. Also surviving are two sisters, Annette Grimenstin of Phenix City, Ala., and Charlotte Stout and her husband, Mickey, of Greenville, Tenn.; and one brother, Steve Pscion and his wife, Connie, of Waco, Texas., Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Glenda Hay., SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Linberger conducting. JOHNSTON CITY -- Sue F. Brownlee, a longtime resident of St. Louis, passed away at 11:03 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, of complications from inoperable pancreatic cancer after a courageous battle of almost two years., She was born Sue Francisco on Feb. 13, 1953, at Herrin Hospital and grew up in Johnston City. She attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale where she obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in health education, studying under the renowned teacher, Bob Russell. Her 1978 Master's thesis, "The Barefoot Doctors: A Study of Improvements in Health Care in the People's Republic of China under Mao Tse-tung," won wide acclaim., She married her husband, Bob, a partner in the St. Louis law firm Thompson Coburn LLC, in 1978 and moved to St. Louis. After a brief period of public school teaching she began a career in private sector health education. She worked for 17 years in what is now the BJC system, first at Missouri Baptist and then at BJC after their combination. Although recently retired for seven years, she remained active in volunteer training for health care providers including physicians, and held three American Red Cross certifications in CPR and related fields., She was active in charitable causes and a supporter of Forest Park Forever, Friends of the St. Louis Zoo and numerous other local organizations. In 2008, she was the silent auction chair of the annual Justice for All Ball to benefit Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. The next year she was the volunteer chair of the event. In February, she was the honorary chair of the 2011 Ball., She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Francisco; and her uncle, Albert Francisco, for whom she cared lovingly for several years. She is survived by Bob; her mother, Mary Francisco; her sisters, Vanessa and Beth; and her brother, Archie; Vanessa's husband, Jeff Maxie, and Archie's wife, Dee; her nephew, Brad; her nieces, Brooke, Stephanie and Laura; as well their spouses and children. She also is survived by her buddies, Sam and Abe the cats; and her beloved rescue, Derby, the dog., Her funeral will be at Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the funeral home. Villetta (Allen) Brundage, 97, went to be with her Lord April 25, 2011., She was born in Milledgeville, Ill., to Orville and Clara Allen. The oldest of five children, she graduated from Milledgeville High School as valedictorian and went on to Illinois State Teachers College in DeKalb. Her 26 years of teaching included everything from a one-room school house, a grade school class in LaGrange, high school at Malta, finishing with teaching second grade and then first, at Lee Elementary. She met her husband, Maurice, while teaching in Malta and they enjoyed 53 years together. McHENRY – W. Douglas McDougall, 63, of McHenry, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, after a brief illness, receiving Hospice care at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin., He was born May 11, 1948, in Glasgow, Scotland, to John and Jane McDougall. He moved to Chicago in 1961 and graduated from Senn High School. He was a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University with a business degree., He married Melissa Doherty on Oct. 2, 1976, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McHenry., He was involved in many ministries at his parish, Holy Apostles Catholic Church in McHenry. He was the founder and president of Catholic Assistance Missions, a nonprofit organization that gives aid to the poor in Haiti., While on his many mission trips to Haiti, he formed a bond with the people in Despinasse. He was in Haiti three weeks before his passing., His many accomplishments with CAM include overseeing the construction of a school for 120 children and 12 new houses for villagers; implementing meal and livestock programs; acquiring cisterns for fresh water and a dispensary for medical aid. He spent a lot of time with the Missionaries of Charity in Port Au Prince, Haiti., He was a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order with his wife since 2005. He belonged to the St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity in Crystal Lake., He was a loving husband and father, was proud of his Scottish heritage, and was a deeply faithful man., He worked at Pace Suburban Bus in Arlington Heights., He is survived by his wife, Melissa; his children, Douglas (Jeanne) McDougall of Niles, Heather McDougall of McHenry, Séan McDougall of Chicago and Chelsea McDougall of Crystal Lake; a grandson, Joseph; a brother, Blair (Mary) McDougall of Acworth, Ga.; his in-laws, Ron (Pam) Doherty, Donna (Dale) Zamastil, Dan (Marge) Doherty and Mara Doherty; and many beloved nieces and nephews., He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother- and father-in-law, John and Shirley Doherty; and his brother-in-law, Jack Doherty., The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. Walter Michael Mueller

HEBRON – Walter Michael Mueller, 90, of Hebron and formerly of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully under the wonderful care provided by Hospice and the Springs of Crystal Lake., He was born July 24, 1920, in Chicago, to John and Margaret Mueller. Having lived in Chicago during the Great Depression, he became very industrious at an early age, working at a fish store at age 9. He found the early rewards of hard work., He attended Arlington Heights School before enlisting in the, Air Corps before, . He served in active duty with the 82nd and 101st Airborne on the front lines in Germany as a paratrooper., After the war, he was in need of a job. While walking through a railroad yard on a hot summer day in Chicago, he volunteered to unload a shipment of Cork. His enthusiastic approach to hard labor landed him a full-time job with United Cork Co. Years later, the company was bought, and he went from lead carpenter to vice president of construction., Because of his strong work ethic, he became one of the leading authorities on freezer and refrigerated warehouse construction. He supervised the construction of the U.S. cold storage facility, which was more than 1 million cubic feet, making it the largest freezer in the world. Ford Motor Co. brought him in as a consultant while designing the Ford test tunnel., He spent most of his life creating devices to make life easier, building greenhouses, tending to his vegetable garden, feeding his fish in his pond, and driving his John Deere Gator while listening to his favorite music on his iPod., Survivors include his three sons, Kurt (Vivienne) of Cary, Blake (Candy) of Woodstock and Eric (Linda) of Cary; and his grandchildren, Andy, Vaughn, Stefen, Heather and Kati; and his older brother, Hanz (Kay) of Skokie., He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna; and his brothers, Frank, Steve and George., Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5. DECATUR - Willie Lee Tate, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1930 in Union City, TN the son of Ora Jane Sanders and Carie Tate. He married Marilyn Lowery–Tate on July 9, 1998. Mr. Tate was a laborer at Wagners Casting Company and PDR Construction for over 30 years. He retired at the age of 60 years. He was a member of the Church of Living God Temple #4 under the leadership of Chief Overseer E.F.
